RE: best campground in/around pigeon forge TN???

Thank You for all the reply's. Have stayed in Cherokee long time ago before the casino overtook everthing else in town. Not crazy about the busyness of Gatlinburg. The Cg's on 321 begore gatlinburg look interesting. The other Family that we go Camping with finally called back and said they would like to go to Stone Mtn GA. Wife liked the idea also. Thank You again for the replys. Hopefully we can go to the Mountains in Oct.

best campground in/around pigeon forge TN???

Thinking about going to Pigeon Forge instead of Myrtle Beach in July for family summer vacation. Any suggestions on where to stay? Been to Pigeon Forge before, but was not camping.

RE: dealer "lack of" service

Stick to your guns!!!! Once you sign the papers and pull it off the lot it will be hard to get the dealer to fix or correct the situation and any problems you may have. The dual cam makes a big difference in the way a TT pulls. I also agree that the TT needs to be setup at home and all systems checked out before actually going on a trip. Heat, A/c, all faucets, showers, water heater, stove, oven, fridge, all lights. open and close awning. make adjustments to hitch and head height.

RE: Just replaced tires and have a question

Don't forget th Valve stems. When keystone sent me five new tires to replace the sorry Missions that Had came on the TT.(had three to have cords seperate within a year and a half. first one was within a year.) anyway, I mounted the new tires myself and replaced the valve stems with new ones I had bought from Advance Auto Parts. Had one tire leak down several months later due to the valve stem while sitting. Then last year on the way to Disney World had a tire leak down and blow out and leave the Darlington stripe all around the wheel well. Problem was the valve stem. I later noticed on the package for the valve stems that those were only rated to 60psi. I ended up replacing all the valve stems with the metal ones that bolt into the rim.(held in with a nut over the valve stem). These I think are good to 120psi.

RE: c/k1500 & 4100# Passport 255BH towing??

I have a '96 GMC K1500 Z71 with 5.7L and 3.73 rear. I pull a '04 keystone Cougar 294rls. It is 31' 6" long and weighs 6500 unloaded and probably little over 7,000lbs when loaded. Right at max for the GMC. Your truck should pull 5,000 to 6,000lbs no problem. If your truck does not have an external trans. cooler then you need to get one. I run two external trans. coolers and bypass the Trans. cooler in the radiator. Living in the south I don't need to heat up the trans. fluid. I serviced the trans. last year and went ahead and switched over to mobile one syn. trans. fluid. Need to get either the EQUALIZER hitch or use the reese DUAL CAM sway control with the regular weight distribution hitch.
Hope you enjoy your new camper.

RE: Travel trailer covers

I agree that they are not worth what they cost. I have the tyvek cover for my TT. there are rips and tear all over. everytime I go to zip it up there is another tear. It is only a year old. the top section is good, but the side material sucks.

RE: Going to Charleston

Oak Plantation or James Island County Park. Have stayed at Oak Plantation. Nice campground with some cement pad sites. Have only riding through JICP. County park has a water park but not sure if it will be open in April. Neither are on north side of Charleston though. Are you coming all the way down I-77 to Columbia, Then getting on I-26 to Charleston? If so take 526 bypass to savannah around south side of charleston. this will take you to 17 south(savannah hwy). check out wed sites for better directions. Hope you have a nice stay.
